After graduating from university, Yuki Ueda embarked on a journey around the world, visiting 45 countries over a year and a half. Upon returning to Japan, he joined amana Inc.
In 2016, he became a freelance photographer, traveling to remote and extreme locations worldwide to capture unprecedented landscapes and share them with a broader audience.
In recent years, he has expanded his range from 8000m Himalayan peaks to underwater environments and Antarctica, successfully summiting Mount Everest (8848m) in 2021.
He is recognized as the world's only photographer documenting Earth across three dimensions—vertical, horizontal, and underwater—and has authored a special feature for National Geographic Japan.
Pen magazine selected him as one of the "21 People Representing This Century" and as a "Rumored Creator Shining Toward the Future."
His work has been featured across various media outlets, including the Japanese popular tv shows "Shu-ichi."
Photographer Yuki Ueda spends most of the year traveling and capturing landscapes from around the world. In 2021, he accomplished the remarkable feat of summiting Mount Everest, photographing from Earth's highest point. Currently, he continues to document landscapes beyond imagination—not only mountains but also underwater environments and uncharted territories.
This work is a composite photographic expression combining vehicle parts with landscapes from Earth's remotest regions. He was inspired during a journey from Tokyo through the Aqua-Line to the mountains and seas of Chiba, when he noticed scenery reflecting in vehicle parts. In that moment, he discovered a visual resonance with the extreme landscapes he had photographed worldwide.
By juxtaposing seemingly disparate elements—"vehicle parts" and "remote landscapes"—he attempts to reveal the fundamental values underlying both.
He selected diverse natural environments like mountains and lakes as subjects, expressing each location's unique atmosphere through visual dialogue with vehicle parts. His extensive experience photographing varied natural landscapes enables the multilayered expression in this work.
